Their ability to rapidly make informed and smart decisions enables them to steer the company through moments of uncertainty and challenges” (Continuity, 2023, p. 1). By utilizing agile leadership, Starbucks demonstrates a proactive approach to problem solving which means the issues are addressed before they exacerbate into a tangled dilemma undermining organizational resilience.Ways for Starbucks to Become More ResilientAlthough Starbucks faces a plethora of challenges, it has a chance to become more resilient by following these recommendations:(a) The company is expected to revise its human resources strategies to gain an in-depth understanding of employees’ needs and insights into addressing them. The company should strive to promote fair treatment and better working conditions for everyone instead of replacing unionized workers with their non-unionized colleagues in times of crisis.(b) Starbucks should rearrange its organizational culture to make it more supportive of employees’ needs. For a company, it is critical to ensure every employee gets a voice, which means everyone can ask questions, voice concerns, or offer transformations to address the issues that have been brewing in the company for some time and improve its performance. The amended organizational culture is recommended to incorporate the elements of transparency, accountability, and honest dialogue with everyone. (c) The company should invest more resources in training employees to equip them with skills, especially soft ones, to effectively interact, negotiate, and address arising dilemmas. The above-mentioned Middle East boycott suggests Starbucks’ employees lack cross-cultural competence to address their customers’ needs at home and abroad. (d) Starbucks is recommended to re-examine its motivation strategies to enhance employees’ commitment to reduce turnover, avoid performance issues, and enhance resilience. The 2023 strikes revealed that Starbucks’ employees are underpaid and lack social guarantees. Considering this, the task facing Starbucks is to create a balanced package of monetary and non-monetary incentives to attract talent and keep the best workers employed for as long as it benefits everyone involved.Plan for Realization and Possible EffectsThe following plan might infort realization of the proposed strategies:(a) Conduct a brainstorming session to discuss the detected problems, assess recommended strategies, set goals and priorities, and agree on tools and success criteria. (b) Arrange the strategies into sections, assign each section to a team of experts, and provide training if needed. (c) Implement strategies and assess the effect achieved using appropriate performance metrics.(d) Conduct a brainstorming session to discuss the progress, elaborate on the detected hindrances, and suggest amendments if needed.(e) Continue the transformation process in alignment with the articulated goals and expected effects. The latter include but are not limited to, enhanced employee commitment, reduced turnover rates, increased revenue, and growing company’s presence in various regions.ConclusionIn summary, Starbucks is in relatively good standing but the year 2023 included some events that can undermine the company’s resilience. To avoid this unfortunate effect, Starbucks is recommended to rely on agile leadership as a way to detect and address issues before these exacerbate into tangled dilemmas. The implementation plan is expected to generate a plethora of positive outcomes, including enhanced employee commitment, reduced turnover rates, increased revenue, and growing company’s presence in various regions.ReferencesContinuity (2023, July 19).
